At the March 21-23 Interphex 2017, Emerson exhibitor staff will be discussing three main themes: delivering capital projects on time with lower risk; comprehensive automation solutions for flexible, single-use facilities; and improving efficiency across the product lifecycle.

Life Sciences companies are expanding globally in order to provide life-saving or life-enhancing solutions to more people at a reasonable cost. Emerson works with Life Sciences customers to delivering comprehensive, integrated automated solutions across the globe. Comprehensive Life Sciences solutions from Emerson include instrumentation, field devices, process control systems, document management, batch record management, electronic equipment status tracking, work in process materials management, weighing/dispensing, electronic batch records, other workflow capabilities, and integration to other systems such as ERP and LIMS.

Single-use solutions and flexible manufacturing capabilities are needed in order to expand the global footprint. As such, Emerson has been developing some new sensors. There will be single-use bags on display in the booth. Both prototypes and current products will be shown. This will include pH sensors, dissolved oxygen sensors, pressure sensors, pinch valves, controllers, and electronic marshalling solutions. Additionally, resources will be available to discuss future direction of the control layer to support single-use and flexible solutions.

Getting a product from research through development and clinical trials to commercial manufacturing is no small feat for Life Sciences companies. Emerson recently released DeltaV Discovery for R&D to enable easier transfer of the control strategies and recipes. These control strategies and product recipes can be developed in the pre-GMP environment using the same control system platform that will be used in GMP manufacturing using a smaller footprint for the R&D space.
