A large refiner in the United States optimized its crude oil blending operations by swapping volumetric meters with Micro Motion Coriolis meters. This had far reaching impacts on the refinery’s operation by gaining significant control of the refinery’s feedstock.

Benefits included:

  • Taking advantage of the price differential between different crude stocks
  • More accurate planning and scheduling operations
  • Improved storage tank management leading to decreased demurrage costs
  • Running the Crude Distillation Unit closer to the unit’s constraints
