QR codes have been around a while, but they’ve really come into their own in the COVID era as many restaurants have moved to QR codes pointing to their online menus. This saves the need to disinfect traditional menus.
These QR codes are also proving to be quite valuable in automation used in manufacturing and production. This quick 25-second video show how these codes, when affixed to instrumentation, can simplify operations and maintenance tasks.
The task this video shows is using the QR code on a measurement device to view its spare parts list and finding the necessary part to order to address the issue. Contrast this with how it would have been done with going to the device, looking on the nameplate for the part number, going back and looking up the part and what spare parts are available, and calling someone or ordering the part back online.
Simple improvements like this add up over time to better productivity and quicker problem resolution.
