Natural gas utility and transmission company operations management from around the world will be gathering soon for the annual American Gas Association (AGA) Operations Conference. This year’s theme is Safety & Operational Excellence – Across the Globe! The conference will take place May 19-22 at the Gaylord Texan Hotel and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas (a Dallas suburb).
Every other year, the conference includes a large exhibition (75,000 square feet with 250 booths and 150 vendors) and this is the year for that. Emerson will be there with a number of new and exciting products to share.
With typically more than 500 people in attendance and over 100 presentations, this is a great place to go to learn more about industry topics like measurement, safety, storage, engineering, construction and maintenance. Make sure you stop by booth 601 to see solutions from Emerson Process Management developed by Micro Motion, Regulator Technologies, Remote Automation Solutions, Rosemount Analytical, Daniel and Virgo.
I will be presenting a paper called “Fine Tuning Coriolis Flow Meter Calibrations Utilizing Piece-Wise Linearization” that shows how Coriolis meters can be adjusted to match gas calibration facilities to reduce differences between the lab and the meter. We will review historic calibration practices for Coriolis flowmeters, including acceptability of the transfer of water calibrations to meet gas measurement accuracy requirements. I’ll also share some new test data showing how the implementation of automatic 10-point piece-wise linearization capabilities facilitates the agreement of a calibrated Coriolis meter with gas lab flow references, resulting in the highest level of precision ever achieved. The presentation will be from 1:55 – 2:40 p.m. on Thursday, May 21 as part of Track E4, so please stop by.
