The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), through their SPE Online Education channel is hosting a webinar, Harnessing the Power of Industrial IoT for Upstream Oil & Gas Production, on Tuesday, October 24 at 9:30am EDT. Here is the synopsis for this webinar:
Oil & gas producers have deferred investment for some time but to address long-term business needs the production companies can no longer defer modernization and now invest for cost reduction. New technology such as wireless sensor networks, analytics software, and cloud computing makes condition monitoring for a broader scope of process equipment practical, including from an engineering center, and enable new IIoT-based business models requiring no capital outlay. Results from easy to replicate digital transformation and de-manning solutions include extended life of production equipment, reduced maintenance spend, reduced energy cost and losses, reduced personnel cost, improved productivity, and increased production.
Emerson’s Jonas Berge will be the speaker. He has more than 30 years of experience in instrumentation and controls and works with oil & gas producers and manufacturers across many industries to justify and adopt performance improving digital technologies. You can see many of the posts we’ve done over the years featuring Jonas’ expertise.
From his SPE page bio:
He is SME in fieldbus, wireless, and IIoT. Jonas sits on the ISA104 and ISA108 standards committees and steering committee of the FieldComm Group in AP. He is the author of two books, contributed to several others, and is frequently featured in articles. Jonas is the editor of the IEC 61804-6 standard, holds patents in safety communications and occasionally acts as adjunct lecturer.
If you are an SPE member, this webinar is available for free as part of your membership. For non-members, the cost is $119 USD. Register on the SPE Online Education page.
You can also connect and interact with other experts in the Industrial Internet of Things in many of the Operate & Manage, Measure & Analyze and Final Control & Regulate groups in the Emerson Exchange 365 community.
