When obtaining temperature measurements in your facility, it is important to receive accurate and reliable measurement data to ensure an efficient and safe process. With this in mind, we revamped our Rosemount™ 248 and 644 Rail Mount Temperature Transmitters to provide you with better insights into your temperature measurements, offer increased uptime and accuracy, and meet safety requirements for SIS applications.

Rosemount™ 248 and 644 Rail Mount Temperature Transmitters

The enhanced Rosemount 248 and 644 Rail Mount transmitters are compatible with a wide array of RTD and thermocouple sensors, are easy to install, and have been updated with a number of new features and functionality. Packaged in a smaller form factor (23.5 mm), the Rosemount 248 and 644 Rail Mount transmitters will be available with HART® 7 protocol. Both units will now also meet ROHS compliance standards.

Similar to other temperature units within the Rosemount portfolio, the 248 and 644 Rail Mount transmitters can be ordered with a CVD Transmitter-Sensor matching option. Unique to the 644, a dual sensor input device is available with the base model 644T. Also, SIL 2/3 safety certification is now available with the 644 Rail Mount transmitter for SIS applications.

A deeper look reveals the following enhancements:

Dual Input

The Rosemount 644 Rail Mount Transmitter includes the option for dual sensor functionality which offers measurement redundancy, including hot backup for seamless transfer from a failed sensor to a backup sensor. This feature option provides a measurement back up, ensuring there is limited loss of measurement.

The optional sensor drift alert monitors for and alerts you to sensor issues before a failure, leaving you with time to take care of the issue before it can impact the process.

CVD Transmitter-Sensor Matching

The CVD Transmitter-Sensor matching option improves the accuracy of measurement data by up to 75% with preset coefficients right out of the box.

SIS SIL 2/3 availability for SIS applications

To meet the requirements of Safety Instrumented System (SIS) device applications, the Rosemount 644 transmitter is SIL 2/3 certified via an additional option.

QR Code Asset Tags

Unique QR Code Asset Tags on every newly shipped device means access to serialized information is as easy as scanning the QR code with your phone or a tablet. This will bring up all relevant data on that device, including install date and next service date.

All in all, these enhancements will provide improved usability and versatility to the 248 and 644 Rail Mount offering.
