There’s a lot at stake when it comes to temperature measurement in process industries, and the number of sensors and thermowells your process needs to keep running safely and productively can be considerable. When you have so many different sensor and thermowell product models to manage, designing, purchasing, installing and stocking these various product models can be an arduous task – and you spend a lot of money doing it.
Emerson’s Rosemount™ Thermowell Design Accelerator offers an easier way! As this new video explains, you can simplify the number of unique thermowell product models in your inventory by standardizing the product models. With less unique design drawings for both your sensors and thermowells and an easier way to manage your inventory, you can reduce the number of unique product models by up to 65%, ultimately saving you both time and money.
How does it work? It’s so easy! After the Accelerator has completed the thermowell calculations, you’ll select the thermowells you want optimized. It will consolidate models into a group of configurations that are of the same pipe size, thermowell mounting type, and thermowell material. All you have to do then is click the “Optimize Inventory” button, and the Accelerator will recommend single, standardized model codes in each of the newly created groups, so you’ll either accept or remove thermowell tags from each group that you don’t want optimized—which is also easy to accomplish by simply reviewing differences between original and proposed thermowell features.
Then, perform another set of thermowell calculations on the selected tags by clicking the “Calculate” button, which will ensure that the optimized design will work across process conditions for each of the original thermowell tags. You’ll quickly work through the list, moving toward consolidation. When all are accepted, click “Update to Project Summary” so the changes will reflect in your project. What could be easier?
The Rosemount Thermowell Design Accelerator not only helps optimize your sensor and thermowell selection process, but it also automatically performs calculations, suggests product models and generates calculation reports. The result? You trim thermowell design time by more than 90%.
And, the Thermowell Design Accelerator provides reports for full history and traceability of calculations performed to meet your application requirements. The visual indicators on the dashboard show errors with details for making informed decisions on designing your next thermowell.
