Optimize operational efficiency and reduce costs in water and wastewater applications with level measurement sensors

by | Feb 10, 2023 | Level, Measurement Instrumentation | 0 comments

In water applications, both within process industry utilities or the water and wastewater industry, it is important to optimize processes to reduce manual rounds while also ensuring sustainable resource management. The Rosemountâ„¢ 1208 Level and Flow Transmitter Series are cost-effective radar sensors that help operators make their processes more efficient and less costly, while also offering ease of use in every step, from ordering to commissioning.

Level measurement for Water and Wastewater

Application: Storage or processing of water and wastewater is carried out in various applications such as filter beds, basins, pump stations, rivers and dams, etc.

Challenges: Submersion, outdoor conditions, temperature changes, turbulence, condensation.

Solution: The Rosemount 1208 Radar Level and Flow Transmitter ensures continuous control and monitoring of water levels, and is unaffected by process conditions. With a fully encapsulated UV resistant PVDF design, it can withstand flooding and solar radiation.

Accurate level measurement in Open Channel Water & Wastewater Flows

Application: River monitoring or Inlet and outlet of water and wastewater from a process plant.

Challenges: Submersion, outdoor conditions, temperature changes, wind, and humidity.

Solution: The Rosemount 1208 ensures accurate and reliable monitoring of water flow levels and remains unaffected by any ambient or process conditions. With built-in formulas and strapping tables, it is easy to get up and running with flow proportional output.

Level measurement in IBC Containers or Plastic Tanks

Application: Plastic tanks or IBC containers can be used to store chemical additives or handle and transport disposable waste.

Challenges: Corrosive media, or non-existent tank connection.

Solution: The Rosemount 1208 provides accurate control of inventory to ensure the process is running smoothly. Radar waves easily penetrate the plastic roof and the sensor is not in contact with the media so there is no need for a tank connection. The sensor has a compact form and the narrow 80 GHz FMCW beam angle makes it suitable for installation in space-limited applications.

Level Measurement in Storage and intermediate tanks

Application: Storage tanks can be used for different applications in utilities and water and wastewater plants, such as the storage of water, sludge, chemical substances, or even finished food products.

Challenges: Corrosive media, condensation, foam, build up.

Solution: The Rosemount 1208 design is corrosion-resistant, drinking water and food-grade approved. It also features a narrow 80 GHz FMCW beam angle to avoid internal obstructions, and no dead zone to increase tank utilization.

Additionally, the Rosemount 1208 offers several communication options and a broad range of mounting and connectivity accessories, which make it very easy to be installed and integrated into any industrial environment.
