Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) play an important role in capital projects by providing modular equipment and processes. They deliver engineered solutions to manufacturers to meet a variety of project requirements, and after commissioning their equipment, these OEMs often give ongoing support through the equipment lifecycle. In return, Emerson offers the measurement devices, final control elements, control and safety systems, sensors, remote monitoring, and asset maintenance systems sought after by OEMs.
I caught up with Emerson’s Melissa Holler, Vice President of Strategic Accounts and the person responsible for launching a new Engineered Solutions Provider program focused on those OEMs that desire a higher-level strategic relationship with Emerson.
Engineered Solutions Providers are challenged with meeting production, cost, schedule, and engineering requirements, as well as their customers’ expectations for modern technology that is of high quality and reliability.
The Emerson team works with these Engineered Solutions Providers to help address their challenges by providing a single point of contact for all business interactions and a single business agreement between companies. Emerson engages with these Engineered Solutions Providers at a strategic level, enabling joint problem solving and optimization to ensure the solutions provided to the end user are not only cost effective but also highly reliable to deliver the uptime that end users expect.
To meet requirements for OEM equipment, online and offline factory-provided tools are available for Engineered Solutions Providers to quote, design, and engineer their solutions effectively.
From a commercial standpoint, order entry and execution with components across the Emerson business has been streamlined with consistent delivery and support for Engineered Solutions Providers and the end users they serve.
By streamlining the supply chain of products, technologies and services, Melissa’s organization can supply these deliverables with high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective solutions. Electrical and instrumentation (E&I) content can be optimized by using innovative technologies such as wireless instrumentation, electronic marshalling, virtualization, simulation and more. And remote analytics and expertise can be provided through connected services to enable Engineered Solutions Providers to remotely monitor their equipment to predict failure before it happens and understand how the end user is using their equipment.
The aim is to help Engineered Solutions Providers with differentiated solutions built on innovative technologies and support that meets their client’s schedule, cost, and functionality requirements. These technologies and services also help reduce the costs of ongoing support and help to provide improved reliability.
Whether you are an end user of OEM equipment or an Engineered Solutions Provider, Emerson’s upcoming Global Users Exchange in San Antonio, TX, October 1-5, will be offering some ideal sessions for OEMs and others interested in seeing what collaboration with Emerson looks like and the benefits it brings. These include:
- Using a common bioreactor automation platform from discovery to production in life sciences
- Bettis EHO & Virgo Valve (ESD) Solution Protects Advanced Compressed Air Energy Storage Facility
- Proportional Valves for fuel dispenser application
- DP Flow Innovation -Solves Space Constraints, Reduces Project Rework and Decreases Costs
