Supporting Simplified and Streamlined Installation of Your Multiphase Flow Meters

by | Feb 27, 2025 | Downhole, Measurement Instrumentation, Oil & Gas | 0 comments

In an earlier blog, we shared exciting news about the introduction of the Roxar™ 5726 Multiphase Transmitter, as an integral component of the Roxar 2600 Multiphase Flow Meter (MPFM). We highlighted some key values provided by this innovation and today, we are going to take a deep dive into one of those topics. Namely, we will share more with you about the benefits the Roxar 5726 Multiphase Transmitter provides relating to simplified and streamlined installation of your multiphase flow meters.

The Roxar 2600 Multiphase Flow Meter with 5726 Multiphase Transmitter

Selecting instrumentation suitable for your application is, of course, a key concern. In addition, it is worth considering the complexity, or otherwise, of the installation needs. Installation of instrumentation can occupy valuable resources, with increased complexity resulting in more time required at installation, and higher related costs. Let’s talk about how we alleviate this burden for you.

All-In-One Solution

With the Roxar 2600 MPFM with 5726 Multiphase Transmitter, you gain a high-quality measurement instrument, that is also a compact, all-in-one solution. With the 5726 Multiphase Transmitter mounted directly onto the meter body, the Roxar 2600 MPFM has a small footprint. This results in the installation of the meter in the pipework completing the entirety of the mechanical installation, quickly and efficiently.

Simplified Cabling

All cabling requirements between the meter body and the Roxar 5726 Multiphase Transmitter are completed in our production facility, and therefore delivered to you fully in place and taken care of. This means that field work is reduced, with less expertise and time required to have your meters prepared for use. All that is needed is the connection of power and communication cables, simple grounding and the meter is ready for commissioning. If you have mobile well testing operations or move your meters at regular intervals, then this would not only provide benefits at initial installation, but each time the meter is moved. Communication cabling can utilize daisy chain mode, meaning that if multiple Roxar 2600 MPFMs are installed in one area, a single communications cable can serve multiple meters, further streamlining installation.

Local Display

The Roxar 5726 Multiphase Transmitter includes a local display. This provides access, right there in the field, to view some key data and supports your ability to perform some basic functions. It is worth noting that the local display is robust to the challenges of both heat and humidity, withstanding both well over the course of time.

Suitability for Harsh Environments

Our developers started with the tried and tested Micro Motion 5700 Field-Mount Transmitter housing, and adapted it as needed, adding all the electronic components required for the multiphase meter from Emerson, resulting in the Roxar 5726 Multiphase Transmitter. ATEX, IECEX and CSA certifications are available. The modern electronics components ensure limited heat generation and the enclosure itself provides good heat transfer, resulting in a certified temperature range of -30 deg C to +55 deg C. This wide temperature range provides assurances that the electronics hardware is suitable for harsh winters, as well as hot summers. Sun-shielding is available, providing shade from all sides, adding to the assurance of tolerance to hot, unforgiving climates. All these assets combined ensure component failures due to overheating or harsh climates are unlikely events, supporting uptime for your instrumentation, and reducing the risk of expenses relating to spare parts and field work.

The building bricks discussed all lead to a simple and streamlined installation experience, and all the related savings connected to this. The compact, lightweight, all-in-one solution is suitable for your onshore and offshore installations, and with the robust 5726 Multiphase Transmitter, you can be confident your electronics hardware is suitable for winter storms or a hot desert location.
