Part 2 – Technology, Trends and Happenings from Emerson Exchange

Yesterday we featured several Emerson executives providing insights on trends, emerging technologies and service capabilities and other happenings in process manufacturing and production. Let’s continue today with five more videos from the recent Emerson Exchange conference.

In this 4:10 video, Tanner Rundall discusses the importance of upskilling personnel to take advantage of the performance improvements that new automation technologies can enable.

In this 4:02 video, Jane Lansing describes the digital worker of the future and how advancing Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technologies continue to drive productivity gains and operational improvements.

Jim Nyquist shares advancements in cloud-based project engineering practices in this 4:29 video, where engineers across the world can collaboratively execute a project. Ongoing operations can be improved by building a “digital twin” in the cloud to replicate the DeltaV distributed control system operating in the plant to assist in optimization and troubleshooting. Jim highlighted the use of cloud-based mimic dynamic simulators to perform operator training for plant operations staff instead of the traditional onsite simulators.

In this 6:22 video, Terry Buzbee describes how the expanded portfolio of final control elements from the acquisition of brands from Pentair’s valves and controls business coupled with strong investments in final control technologies helps to position Emerson as a main valve partner for its global customers. Terry also highlights the advancements in additive manufacturing to completely transform the manufacturing process and delivery capabilities of valves to manufacturers.

Johan Claassen and Dave Plum highlight in this 8:28 video, the assistance and relief efforts for Emerson employees and process manufacturers and producers affected by the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey along the Texas and Louisiana gulf coast.
