Diagnosing Wiring Issues in Control and Safety Applications

Control systems rely on accurate measurements coming in from the instrumentation in the process that measures pressures, temperatures, levels, flows and more. For wired instrumentation, it’s not only the accuracy of the measurement device itself, but the impact of the wiring path between it and the terminations into the control system that determines the signal’s accuracy. This path can include terminations at the instrument, at a nearby junction box, in the wiring between the junction box and control system wire marshalling panel, and into the terminal blocks for the control system.
