Lots of Innovation this Past Two Weeks

As with every Emerson Exchange conference, there will be a flurry of news along with the sharing of impressions of all the people attending. In fact, it can feel a little overwhelming. There has been a lot of news coming out in just the past two weeks that I wanted to highlight today in case you missed them. I’ve added a few hyperlinks to where you can find additional information.

On the technology innovation front, a new Rosemount 3148 Eight-Path Gas Ultrasonic Flow Meter:

…delivers highly accurate flow measurement in natural gas custody transfer applications with reduced upstream piping requirements and without flow conditioning. The Rosemount 3418 compensates for flow distortions that result from pipe bends, shorter straight runs or smaller design footprints, allowing it to operate in more design configurations without sacrificing accuracy and long-term performance.

On helping manufacturers and producers improve productivity through the interaction of people, processes and technology:

MyEmersonMyEmerson – accelerates digital transformation by connecting people and technology through streamlined work processes and better collaboration. With a MyEmerson online account, users can access digital tools to quickly engineer solutions, manage software and installed assets, access training, collaborate with experts, streamline procurement processes, and improve visibility into buying history and trends.

To improve reliability performance and maintenance practices is the news of:

…the AMS Asset Monitor edge analytics device, which digitalizes essential asset data and analytics for better operations performance and improved decision making. AMS Asset Monitor provides actionable insights into essential assets that were previously monitored only with infrequent assessments. The new edge analytics device will connect with Emerson’s Plantweb™ Optics asset performance platform to provide key operations personnel with instant asset health details for operations and maintenance decision making.

For oil & gas producers seeking to improve exploration & production collaboration & productivity via cloud-based applications, Emerson announced:

…its entire exploration and production (E&P) software suite is now available on the cloud, enabling oil and gas companies to securely take advantage of digital technologies to better model and optimize production in new and established reservoirs. A leading independent provider of E&P software, Emerson now delivers seismic processing and imaging, data interpretation, subsurface modeling, formation evaluation, reservoir engineering, production optimization, and other services with faster, more powerful computing power to connect critical subsurface intelligence with surface operations.

And finally, on addressing the need to upskill the workforce to take full advantage of these technologies and solutions to improve safety, reliability, efficiency and productivity, Emerson has:

…helped design, equip and provide training tools for San Jacinto College’s new Center for Petrochemical, Energy, and Technology (CPET), designed to empower students of all levels with the skills and training needed to support careers in the evolving petrochemical and refining industries. The new, 151,000-square-foot complex is the largest petrochemical training facility along the Texas Gulf Coast.

All this, in just two weeks… Buckle up and expect much more next week! You can follow the action if you’re not with us in Nashville on this blog, in the Emerson Exchange 365 community, via email if you subscribe here, and in the various social networks by following the #EmrEx hashtag.
