Across the Asia-Pacific region, a series of Performance Without Compromise seminars have occurred over the past several years. The name of the seminar series comes from former Emerson CEO Chuck Knight’s 2005 book, Performance Without Compromise: How Emerson Consistently Achieves Winning Results.
These seminars highlight ways to improve plant performance and are a fusion of presentations, information sessions and application displays. They focus on ways to solve some of the key problems process manufacturers face.
I received a note from Emerson’s Joseph Lim, who shared his notes and pictures from a recent seminar in Chennai, India. More than 300 process-manufacturing professionals, consultants, teaching professionals, and members of the regional trade and business press attended the seminar. Joseph notes that a wide array of industries were represented including chemical and fertilizer, refining, pharmaceutical, and biotech.
The seminar included wireless application presentations by a head of projects (electrical and instrumentation) with a tire manufacturer and a research and development leader for a major process equipment manufacturer. Members of the Emerson technology and service team presented on ways technologies were being applied to improve overall plant performance. The seminar also included in-depth, hands-on application stations addressing IEC 62591 wireless technologies, essential asset management, safety instrumented systems, energy management, and process automation services.
With the focus on problem solving and not on technical specifications and features, Joseph shared that the attendees were highly engaged and the feedback on the session was extremely positive.
The next seminar will be held on August 26 in Bangkok, Thailand. Contact the Emerson Thailand office for registration information.
