If you use Foundation fieldbus technology with your smart instrumentation in your plant or perhaps may in the future, I want to share that an updated Segment Design Tool is now available for you to download.

This tool is specifically designed to verify physical and electrical parameters of a Foundation™ fieldbus (FF) segment, operating under Emerson Process Management host system interfaces, such as DeltaV distributed control systems, AMS Device Manager software, and Ovation expert control systems.

This release has added support for the Windows 7 operating system, improved FF devices library management and support for both Simplex and Redundant H1 cards of DeltaV S series with Integrated Power Supply, and numerous field devices from a variety of manufacturers listed on Device Install kit of website of Emerson. The Segment Design Tool is compatible with the Windows XP / Windows 7 operating systems.

Once you download and install the tool, you’ll want to register it to get full access to all the embedded features within the tool. Also, here is an email link to the support team should you experience any issues.

To connect and interact with other Foundation fieldbus host system users, join the DeltaV, Ovation and/or Asset Optimization, Maintenance & Reliability tracks of the Emerson Exchange 365 community.
