Customer Adoption Manager, Topside Flow Metering

As oil and gas operators adjust production methodologies and target more challenging reservoirs worldwide, the need for adaptive multiphase flow measurement continues to evolve. Pioneering modern solutions will be integral to meeting the unique challenges of these sources. Emerson’s automation efforts and philosophy of innovation helps us develop extraordinary capabilities in our Roxar Multiphase Flow Meters. Now, with the addition of Rapid Adaptive Measurement embedded software, the renowned Roxar 2600 Multiphase Flow Meter allows operators to tackle rapidly fluctuating flow profiles with precision and accuracy like never before. Gaining a high degree of insight and automation in your production gives you the operational efficiency you need to take on even the most formidable applications. You will have confidence that you’re making qualified decisions as you break new ground.

What is Rapid Adaptive Measurement?

Complex reservoirs magnify the challenges oil and gas operators face, making optimization and efficiency targets harder to hit. At the same time, automation technology can assist, but it might be intimidating to deploy new, high-tech instrumentation. What you need is flow metering technology that you can trust, that will stand the test of time, and that is simple and easy to implement and use.

Our response to these evolving market demands is the introduction of Rapid Adaptive Measurement, an embedded software for our Roxar 2600 Multiphase Flow Meter.

Leveraging Emerson’s decades of multiphase flow measurement experience in the field and in-depth knowledge of the needs of our customers, we’ve created an adaptable software solution that ensures our multiphase flow meter is not only suitable for all flow conditions, but also actively adapts to them as they shift. In fact, the measurements are taken at 10Hz speed and enable the multiphase flow meter to automatically adapt to changing flow conditions 10 times per second. The correct modules for the flow regime are self-selected when suitable and required, reducing the need for manual intervention. The user interface is built to be intuitive and straightforward, streamlining customer interactions with the meter. Harnessing the power and performance of your state-of-the-art flow technology is achievable even without high-level training and expertise.

Roxar Rapid Adaptive Measurement offers enhanced performance, giving customers assurance in optimized settings, with automation built-in, reducing the need for manual intervention. All Roxar MPFMs will include the core software features like enhanced speed and automation, coverage of the full 0-100% gas volume fraction range, basic alarms and diagnostics, and an embedded Pressure, Volume, and Temperature (PVT) engine.

There are also options for additional functionality and features. A more effective Advanced PVT feature allows for the display of meter output at any desired pressure and temperatures and a process for gas lift integration. The addition of Detect and Correct feature provides advanced alarms and diagnostics for in-situ verification of sensors, flow, and calculation for extra assurances on meter outputs and Layer Compensation functionality. Roxar Rapid Adaptive Measurement includes full support for a range of connectivity options including WiFi and Microsoft Azure Cloud. This gives users access to Emerson’s Performance Monitoring services across the globe.

The Modern Oilfield Defined

At Emerson, we remain committed to staying at the forefront of flow measurement technology.
