Shifting from stainless steel biopharmaceutical batch production to single-use technologies reduces time, capital equipment cost, and contamination risk. However, until recently most single-use measurement technologies on the market were not reliable or accurate enough to deliver the same performance as traditional stainless steel devices.
The new Rosemount 550PT Pressure Transmitter is designed to provide the same proven and reliable performance as traditional stainless steel technologies while being uniquely adapted to fully meet the needs of single-use. The reusable pressure sensor provides immediate start-up, increased stability, and reduced downtime between batches. Additionally, the pressure sensor delivers +/- 0.15 psi accuracy, so users can be confident of precise and safe control.
The transmitter is equipped with 4-20mA output and is designed to work with the disposable Rosemount 551 Single-Use Process Connector to isolate fluid from the sensor, which can enable increased safety and reduced process contamination risks. This new pressure instrument joins Emerson’s single-use technology family of instrumentation, which already includes pH and dissolved oxygen instruments.
