Rosemount 1408H Non-Contacting Level Transmitter Receives Red Dot Design Award

The Red Dot Design Award is an annual design competition that appraises the best products created every year. Expert juries in the areas of product design, communication design, and design concepts, select the winning designs. The Rosemount™ 1408H Non-Contacting Level Transmitter has received the award for Product Design 2021 and has been acknowledged for its stylish, innovative and patented cooling design, which allows the transmitter to withstand high cleaning temperatures frequently used to kill bacteria, while still retaining a compact and robust form.

In the food and beverage industry, it is crucial that level measurement instrumentation fulfills certain criteria and hygienic requirements while reducing downtimes and preventing risks such as overfilling. By using non-contacting radar technology, manufacturers can achieve highly accurate and reliable level measurement with excellent surface tracking and low maintenance requirements, thus helping plants to reduce product losses and maximizing production capability.

The shift from using a separate circuit board to single-chip technology has allowed non-contacting radar level sensors to be used in continuous level measurement in hygienic applications. With a compact size, these cost-effective transmitters provide food and beverage manufacturers with several and diverse advantages.

The new Rosemount 1408H Non-Contacting Level Transmitter has been designed specifically to match hygienic requirements for the food and beverage industry. The radar is equipped with hygienic certifications and features a unique compact and robust design compatible with CIP/SIP processes and harsh washdowns. Additionally, it combines 80 GHz, FMCW technology and Fast Sweep Technology. The latter provides 40 times more data compared to legacy technologies and helping to reduce product losses, increase product quality and batch consistency.

The transmitter offers hybrid communication and provides 4-20 mA, IO-Link and PnP/NpN switching, making it easy to integrate with any automation system. And, with its innovative technology and smart algorithms, the Rosemount 1408H also ensures easy installation and commissioning, helping manufacturers save time and provide trouble-free operation.
